Only half of a new hospice measure will be publicly reported as planned this summer, while the other half isn’t quite ready for prime time.

The Hospice Visits when Death is Imminent Measure Pair assesses whether hospice staff addressed the needs for patients and caregivers in the last three and seven days of life, respectively.

On April 1, CMS announced that it will publicly report the three-day measure as planned but that the seven-day measure won’t be publicly reported as planned “because it did not currently meet readiness standards for public reporting.”

The 2017 hospice payment final rule created the measure pair. Read a fact sheet about the Hospice Visits when Death is Imminent Measure Pair.

Separately, CMS noted on April 1 that CASPER Quality Measure Reports now include the measure pair.
