In the second set of quarterly OASIS Q&As that CMS issued since the revised assessment took effect Jan. 1, items new to OASIS-D again took center stage.
 
CMS posted the Q&As on April 15.
 
The release includes 15 questions and answers, 14 of which deal with items new to OASIS-D. The guidance applies to GG0110 (Prior device use), GG0130 (Self-care), GG0170 (Mobility), J1800 (Any falls since start of care (SOC)/resumption of care (ROC)), M1306 (Unhealed pressure ulcer at stage 2 or higher), M1311 (Current number of unhealed pressure ulcers/injuries at each stage), M1324 (Stage of most problematic unhealed pressure ulcer/injury that is stageable) and existing M items capturing activities of daily living (ADLs).
 
The mobility and self-care items were among the most challenging for clinicians when the revised assessment took effect.
 
The January OASIS Q&A release included 32 new Q&As, 26 of which dealt with the items new to OASIS-D.
