Home care could see a significant increase in federal spending if Congress approves the $2 trillion economic package offered by President Joe Biden on March 31.

If approved as introduced, the American Jobs Plan would include $400 billion “toward expanding access to quality, affordable home- or community-based care for aging relatives and people with disabilities,” according to the White House.

In a fact sheet on the rescue plan, the White House notes the increase in home health spending is expected to create jobs and raise wages and benefits for home care workers.

“The president’s plan makes substantial investments in the infrastructure of our care economy, starting by creating new and better jobs for caregiving workers,” the White House states. “His plan will provide home and community-based care for individuals who otherwise would need to wait as many as five years to get the services they badly need.”
