The Medicare Care Choices Model (MCCM) will be extended by one calendar year, through Dec. 31, 2021. The extension will enable more Medicare beneficiaries to access supportive care.

This extension applies to hospices that have been participating in the model. New hospices will not be enrolled. For those hospices that are participating, they will be contacted by CMS in the upcoming days and will be invited to apply for the voluntary extension, according to a press release from CMS.

The extension allows MCCM participating hospices to enroll eligible beneficiaries through June 30, 2021. MCCM services can be provided for these hospices through December 31, 2021, CMS states.

This extension will not affect the model’s other existing operations or policies.
