The Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) has announced plans for an analysis of home health agencies’ emergency communication plans, looking at “strengths and challenges ensuring continuity of care during disasters.”

Prior to the pandemic, natural disasters have highlighted vulnerabilities in agencies’ emergency preparedness, specifically regards to communication and continuity of care, according to the OIG announcement July 15, 2021.

This new report, expected to be published in 2023, will review factors that agencies identify as hindering or supporting continuity of care during a disaster.
