CMS says home health agencies and other health care providers should make efforts now to get employees vaccinatedahead of a planned rule to require vaccinations of staff later this fall.

On Sept. 9, CMS said it plans to expand a previously announced vaccine requirement for nursing home workers to include other providers participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

CMS is developing an Interim Final Rule with Comment Period that will be issued in October, according to the announcement.
Facilities are urged to use all available resources to support employee vaccinations, CMS said, including employee education and clinics, as they work to meet the new federal requirements.

The National Association for Home Care & Hospice will host a free webinar Sept. 20 with a vaccine mandate discussion with industry leaders and legal experts.
