The Medicare sequestration increases to a 2% payment adjustment beginning July 1.
Currently at 1% since April 1, the sequestration cuts impact payments for all Medicare FFS claims.
In a letter to leaders in Congress last week, the American Hospital Association urged lawmakers to provide financial relief as health systems continue to struggle with the pandemic.
“Hospitals and health systems need financial relief from this pending cut in order to maintain access to care for the patients and communities they serve, while they continue to face dire financial and workforce pressures brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic,” wrote Stacey Hughes, AHA executive vice president.
