The owner of California-based home health care and hospice agencies was sentenced July 21 to 18 months in prison for one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and one count of conspiracy to pay and receive health care kickbacks, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Easter District of California.
Liana Karapetyan, 42, owned three Sacramento-area home health and hospice agencies with her husband, and allegedly played a role in at least $2 million in Medicare services purportedly provided to patients based on referrals in exchange for kickbacks, according to prosecutors.
