It took 15 minutes for a jury to convict a Texas home health marketer in a $17.7 million kickback scheme, according to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
Patrick Osemwengie, of Richmond, Texas, was found guilty of conspiracy to pay and receive health care kickbacks.
He was accused of charging two home health agencies $500 for new patients and $250 for recertifications. The home health providers then billed Medicare and Medicaid for services that were never provided. Several participants confirmed they were paid kickbacks to sign up for home health services, according to a news release.
