The structural measure concept for a home health and hospice equity measure was well received by industry leaders participating in a technical expert panel (TEP), according to CMS.

Released May 24, the TEP report noted that the group raised concerns about implementation of the measure and proposed using a phased approach.

“Broad themes that recurred throughout discussions were community access and alignment between the community population and the organization’s patient population,” CMS stated in the report. “A key suggestion regarding additional health equity measurement was ensuring a framework is in place for providers and organizations to use as a guide when implementing a new organizational culture of equity.”
