Three recent investigations by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) have led to a combined $437,000 recovered from home care companies.
 
On July 25, the DOL announced it had recovered $135,000 from Axis Home PCA Agency Inc. after investigators found Axis typically paid personal care workers straight-time pay for all hours worked.
 
On Aug. 6, the DOL announced $229,000 in unpaid overtime pay and damages was due to 66 home health aides at Blue Ridge Home Care  of Philadelphia, Pa.
 
On Aug. 19, investigators announced they’d recovered $73,000 from Lasting Love Homecare of Bismark, N.D., for 76 employees after the employer was found to have “wrongly understood state law related to overtime exemptions for domestic service workers.”
