Care Compare’s latest quarterly refresh, updated Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2024, is live with home health claims data for calendar year 2023.
Agencies will likely notice a change in the calculation of the Quality of Patient Care Star Ratings, with the removal of the Acute Care Hospitalization measure. It has been replaced with the Within-Stay Potentially Preventable Hospiatlization (PPH) measure. Emergency Department Use measure has also been removed from public reporting.
OASIS and HHCAHPS data is updated quarterly, but the October refresh is the only time we get fresh claims-based data each year.
The most notable change came in Discharge to Community (based on two years of data from 2022-2023), dropping from 76.6% in 2022 to 76.1% last year.
PPH fell slightly from 10% in 2022 to 9.9% last year.
Potentially Preventable Post-Discharge Readmission was unchanged at 3.9%.
