The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) is focusing time during its March meeting to discuss home health care use among Medicare Advantage enrollees.
The commission had previously asked staff to provide some data on home health use, noting available information didn’t provide enough information.
Results to be reviewed during a session March 7 will look at OASIS data combined with MA encounter data, "incorporating a large set of beneficiary characteristics and MA plan attributes,” according to the meeting agenda.
The industry has repeatedly called for regulators to take a closer look at MA plan practices around home health, including preapproval denials, patterns of limiting visits and low reimbursement rates.
