Hospices need to register for and receive access to the internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES) by Sept. 10, 2025, so they’re ready for the big changes to hospice quality reporting effective Oct. 1, 2025, according to CMS.

The transition to iQIES aligns with the switch from the Hospice Item Set (HIS) to the Hospice Outcomes and Patient Evaluation (HOPE) tool this fall. Hospices will be required to use iQIES to submit HOPE data starting Oct. 1, and CMS suggests that providers request access as soon as possible in order to ensure a smooth transition.

An alert to providers July 31, 2025, notes several steps required in order to access the iQIES platform. Agencies must:
  • Designate at least one staff member to serve as the Provider Security Official (PSO). This individual will be responsible for approving or rejecting your agency’s user access requests in iQIES, including vendor requests.
  • Register your PSO(s) for iQIES login credentials.
  • Complete identification proofing and multi-factor authentication.
Agencies will be notified via email when their PSO has been approved.
