CMS has released the documents associated with high-profile changes plotted for home health quality reporting in spring 2026.

In the 2026 Home Health Prospective Payment System proposed rule, officials announced plans for a shorter HHCAHPS survey that would begin use in April 2026.

Experts note the changes provide an easier, streamlined survey that could boost response rates with questions that focus on subjective, patient-centered feedback.

CMS also announced changes to the OASIS that will necessitate an updated version, OASIS-E2. It's also expected to be effective in April 2026. Changes include the removal of the COVID-19 vaccine question and a reformatted transportation question.
