CMS released the updated Home Health Grouper Aug. 18 containing acceptable primary diagnoses and the high and low comorbidity adjustment subgroups for the new FY2026 codes — set to take effect Oct. 1.
For example, new code E11.A (Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications in remission) will fall into the MMTA - Endocrine clinical group and Endocrine 3 comorbidity group.
Additionally, several new codes were also added to the list of unacceptable principal diagnoses including Z59.861 (Financial insecurity, difficulty paying for utilities), Z59.868 (Other specified financial insecurity) and Z59.869 (Financial insecurity, unspecified).
Two codes were removed from the list of unacceptable principal diagnoses:
- Z59.86 (Financial insecurity)
- Z84.1 (Family history of disorders of kidney and ureter)
The grouper also contains a listing of code first diagnosis additions and removals, deleted diagnosis codes, modified diagnosis code descriptors and modified clinical group assignments.
