Hospice providers can now refresh their knowledge of billing for a Service Intensity Add-On (SIA), or additional registered nurse and social worker visits scheduled during the last seven days of a patient’s life, through an explanatory video released by CMS on April 16, 2026. 
 
The six-minute video, titled “Hospice Levels of Care and How to Bill for Service Intensity Add-On (SIA) Payments,” explores four levels of care, including routine and continuous home care, and reimbursement under the hospice benefit. Providers can also learn the details about when SIAs are appropriate and how payment for these visits works.
