Home health care expenditures are projected to double in the coming decade, according to a Health Affairs report published on June 24, 2026.
The report examines national health expenditure projections between 2024 and 2034.
Home health care spending accounts for only a small share of national health expenditures but is expected to see strong growth in the coming years. In fact, home health is expected to see an average of 8.6% of annual growth, increasing from approximately $169.4 billion spent in 2024 to $367.8 billion by 2034.
This growth is likely connected to aging adults who are turning to home health instead of nursing homes, the report authors note.
