Over 200 health care organizations, including the National Alliance for Care at Home and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, are asking Congress to create a permanent pathway for Medicare telehealth coverage. 
 
The Telehealth Voters Pledge, delivered to Congress on July 23, urges Congress to help protect patient access to health care by expanding Medicare telehealth coverage permanently instead of providing another short-term extension.  
 
Signatories promised to continue advocating for a permanent telehealth policy, and committed to educating others about the importance of such a pathway.  
 
Current Medicare telehealth flexibilities, which are set to expire at the end of 2027, allow physicians or other allowed providers to conduct a telehealth visit for home health certification, regardless of where the patient is located, as long as it’s documented that the visit included two-way audio and video technology.
