If your agency received denials from Palmetto because referring physicians aren't in the provider enrollment, change and ownership system (PECOS), expect to get your payments within the next two weeks.

You don't need to take any action on final claims that received the denials, but you do need to resubmit any requests for anticipated payment (RAPs) that did.

"Palmetto GBA has cancelled the RAP claims. Providers need to refile their RAP claims. Palmetto GBA is adjusting the final claims. We anticipate completing all adjustments within two weeks. No provider action is needed on the final claims," the intermediary states in its processing issues log.

However, the reprieve is likely to be short: You can expect CMS-approved PECOS denials from all intermediaries to kick in as soon as late June (HHL 05/07/12).
