CMS has released several new tools to help you assess the effect of the transition and plan for it.

The new tools include comprehensive checklists and timeline charts, based on provider type and size, according to a Feb. 26 CMS announcement.

“These resources are designed to give you a high-level understanding of what the ICD-10 transition requires and how your ICD-10 preparations compare with recommended timeframes,” CMS says.

The federal Medicare agency also notes that the checklists in particular won’t work equally well for every provider: “Depending on your organization, you may be able perform some of the tasks on a compressed timeline or at the same time as other tasks.”
