A hospice in Pasadena, Md., has learned that a “data incident” occurred after an employee emailed spreadsheets containing patient information to a personal email account to work on them at home, according to Capital Gazette Communications LLC.
Hospice of the Chesapeake is investigating whether sensitive patient information was obtained by an “outside party,” according to the Gazette. The spreadsheets included patient names, ages, dates of service and diagnoses. The hospice says the spreadsheets didn’t include Social Security numbers, birth dates or financial account information.
