The data below show the average number of clinical case-mix points captured by agencies on OASIS items in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Note that points for M2030 (Management of injectable medications) continued to decline, albeit slightly, after a significant drop in 2012. The drop in 2012 is likely the result of a change in the case-mix points assigned for this item, home health consultants point out. Early, low-therapy episodes used to be worth one point, but that point was stripped from the Grouper logic in 2012.
The data are based on assessments provided at more than 2,000 provider locations in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The 2013 data is representative of about 2.5 million assessments.
