The timeframe by which agencies must notify their respective Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) of a change of address has been extended by CMS to 90 days.

CMS announced Aug. 28 that it made the change from 30 to 90 days, effective immediately, to be consistent with the provider enrollment regulations. Those regulations provide for a 90-day notification period, the federal Medicare agency says in a related memo.

The State Operations Manual requires that when an existing agency intends to move from its surveyed and certified location to a new site or location that’s within the current approved geographic area, it notifies the applicable MAC.
