Hospices that received letters from CMS indicating they failed to meet the 2016 calendar year quality reporting requirements must act quickly if they decide to submit reconsideration requests.

If your hospice doesn’t email in its reconsideration request by 11:59 p.m. PST Aug. 17, that means your hospice accepts its noncompliance.
To comply with quality reporting requirements, hospices had to meet submission requirements for the Hospice Item Set (HIS) and the Hospice CAHPS survey. Those not meeting the requirements could face payment reductions of up to 2% in 2018.

CMS sent letters to hospices July 18 — and notified hospices via CASPER — that they were noncompliant. Only hospices CMS deemed noncompliant received the letters.

The letters contain instructions about how to request a reconsideration. View more details at http://go.cms.gov/2uNyWvZ
