The fines for Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) violations have been adjusted for inflation.

Fines that fall in the categories of serious, other-than-serious and posting requirements will go up from a maximum penalty of $12,471 per violation to $12,934 per violation, while failure-to-abate violations will go up the same amount per day.

Yes, that’s $12,934 for each day you fail to abate a violation beyond the date OSHA sets for you to deal with the problem.

And there’s another boost in civil penalties — for each willful or repeated violation of a standard, the maximum penalty will go from $124,709 per violation to $129,336 per violation.

The fines were adjusted as of Jan. 2, 2018.
