Amazon has started a “health & wellness” team tasked with making the Alexa voice assistant more helpful to the healthcare industry, according to a CNBC report.

Amazon Alexa was already part of a pilot program in home care. Libertana Home Health Care of Van Nuys, Calif. started using the technology last year to help clients more actively manage activities of daily living and improve the agency’s care delivery.

The new team at Amazon is tasked with tackling issues of HIPAA compliance and is targeting areas such as diabetes management as well as care for mothers and infants and aging, according to the CNBC report.
