For the first time agencies are getting CMS guidance on how to respond to new items coming to OASIS-D.

The 335-page draft OASIS-D guidance manual was published on the CMS website July 3.

Among the new guidance: two new sections of standard guidance covering health conditions as well as functional abilities and goals. Some existing guidance also was revised to update or clarify information.

The manual also takes into account the removal of a number of items, the retirement of illustrative examples and the elimination of Appendix F.

Within Appendix G, CMS provides a table of changes from OASIS-C2 to OASIS-D.

A final draft of OASIS-D is expected to be released in November — prior to final implementation on Jan. 1, 2019, according to CMS.
