Agencies should ensure they have access to the Internet Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (iQIES) by Dec. 23, 2019, to be able to submit assessment data after Jan. 1, 2020, according to CMS.

Failure to get access by that date will negatively impact agencies' ability to submit required assessment data used for matching claims. If there is no matching assessment, the claim will be returned to provider (RTP), which will delay payment. CMS outlined what's required in an MLN Matters article released last month.

The system is designed to be a more reliable, secure, accessible and scalable system than the existing Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (QIES).

Agencies will submit data using the same process, but the system requires agencies to create new credentials through a secure identity management profile.
