In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, which was declared a national emergency earlier this month, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is implementing a new diagnosis code U07.1 (COVID-19) into the ICD-10-CM code set.

Due to this addition, an updated version of the ICD-10 MS-DRG GROUPER software package to accommodate the new diagnosis code, effective with discharges on and after April 1, 2020 is now available on the CMS’ website.

This updated GROUPER software package replaces the GROUPER software package V37.1 that was developed in response to the new ICD-10-CM diagnosis code U07.0, Vaping-related disorder, according to CMS.
