An updated draft of OASIS-E that will be effective Jan. 1, 2023, was released on Feb. 1, 2022.

Notable changes from the draft released in 2020 include the removal of M2016 (Patient/caregiver drug education intervention) from Section N (Medications), as well as the reordering of some items.

In addition to the changes above, “Patient declines to respond” was added as an option to the following items:
  • A1005 (Ethnicity)
  • A1010 (Race)
  • A1250 (Transportation)
  • B1300 (Health literacy)
  • D0700 (Social isolation)
While this draft is not final, approval from the Office of Management and Budget is expected later this year. The industry awaits the updated OASIS-E guidance manual.
