The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) introduced its new COVID-19 Community Level standards on February 25, 2022, as a new metric for state and local health care officials to determine the need for increased public infection prevention steps.

But its important for health care providers to recognize these new standards do not apply to health care settings. “Instead, health care settings should continue to use community transmission rates and continue to follow CDC’s infection prevention and control recommendations for health care settings,” according to a CDC statement.
