In a month that saw noticeable gains across the health care sector, home health care services reported a loss of 1,800 jobs.
 
Overall, health care employment rose by 48,000 jobs in August, with nearly 22,000 in ambulatory health care services and 15,200 in physician offices, according to the latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) employment situation summary.
 
Nursing and residential care facilities gained 11,600 jobs during the month.
 
Seasonally adjusted employment in home health care services has increased roughly 60,000 in the past 12 months, according BLS data, and currently stands at nearly 1.57 million.
