Home health care services added 10,600 jobs in September, accounting for 1 out of every 6 new health care jobs, according to the latest employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Home health services now employ 1,582,300, up roughly 66,700 jobs since September 2021, according to the data released Friday, Oct. 7, 2022.

The BLS also updated its estimate for August, noting the home health added 2,700 jobs for the month. Initial estimates had the sector losing roughly 1,800 jobs in August.

More broadly, the new numbers from the BLS suggest the health care industry overall has returned to pre-pandemic levels in terms of employment, according to HealthLeaders.
