An Illinois woman has been convicted in a $6 million fraud conspiracy involving at least four years of fraudulently forging a physician’s signature for more than 2,000 episodes of home health care, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The unlicensed medical assistant forged her employer’s signature on certification forms and supporting documentation for two home health agencies in Lansing, Ill., in exchange for kickback payments.

The woman, Rhonda Sutton, 58, of Matteson, was convicted by a federal jury of conspiracy to commit health care fraud and will be sentenced on March 16, 2023.
