CMS has updated home health results on Care Compare for July 2024.
 
The results continue to show significant year-over-year improvement nationally for several OASIS-based measures, including:
  • How often patients got better at walking or moving around: 86.7%, up from 84.1%.
  • How often patients got better at getting in and out of bed: 87.6%, up from 85.4%.
  • How often patients got better at bathing: 88.5%, up from 86.4%.
  • How often patients' breathing improved: 88.8%, up from 86.7%.
  • How often patients got better at taking their drugs correctly by mouth: 84.9%, up from 82.0%.
The latest OASIS results were based on data from Oct. 1, 2022, to Sept. 30, 2023.
 
July’s Care Compare update also includes the full 2023 data for HHCAHPS survey questions. The national results include:
  • Percent of patients who reported that their home health team gave care in a professional way: 88%, unchanged from 2022.
  • Percent of patients who reported that their home health team communicated well with them: 86%, up one percentage point.
  • Percent of patients who reported that their home health team discussed medicines, pain, and home safety with them: 82%, unchanged from 2022.
  • Percent of patients who gave their home health agency a rating of 9 or 10 on a scale from 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest): 85%, up one percentage point.
  • Percent of patients who reported YES, they would definitely recommend the home health agency to friends and family: 78%, unchanged from 2022.
Claims-based measures will be updated with the October refresh.
