Medicare Administrative Contractor Palmetto GBA is reminding its providers that they only have 60 days to respond to document requests under Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) review.

Prior to July 1, 2024, providers had 76 days before the claim would be counted as a non-response error and subject to overpayment recovery. Since then, the window has been 60 days.

CMS and the MACs expect responses within 45 days. There will be a follow-up phone call on day 49, noting that the response is overdue. And day 60 it is counted as a non-response error.
