The latest jobs numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics suggest home health is struggling through the spring.
 
Updated numbers show an increase of 12,300 jobs in May. But the new estimates included an adjustment to April that shows a decrease of 54,800 jobs between March and April. Previous estimates had suggested a slight increase in jobs between the two months.
 
Currently, the BLS estimates there are nearly 1.8 million jobs in home health care, the lowest total since October and down from a high of more than 1.84 million in February.

  • Nov. 2024: 1,813,300

  • Feb. 2025: 1,841,100
  • March 2025: 1,839,600
  • April 2025: 1,784,800
  • May 2025: 1,797,100
