Estimates on the number of home health care jobs remain in flux this summer, as the latest estimates of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) suggest a mix of good and bad news.

Home health care services is estimated to have added 2,800 jobs in June, among the 39,200 jobs added in health care overall, according to the BLS labor report released July 3, 2025.

But, that is after a downward adjustment to the May estimates and suggests the workforce is smaller than what we expected 30 days ago.
According to the updated numbers, there are an estimated 1,796,900 jobs in home health care services through June. That is down from the 1,797,100 figure BLS was using in its report on May job numbers.

Total jobs in the sector remain at the lowest point since October 2024 and are far from the high estimated in February of 1,841,100.
