Hospice providers can now access five pre-recorded online training courses about new and updated items in the Hospice Outcomes and Patient Evaluation (HOPE) tool, which will be implemented on Oct. 1, 2025.

CMS released these videos, which range from 15 to 25 minutes long, on July 15, 2025. Hospices can also review the transcripts and slides for each course.

Topics covered in the trainings include:
  • Training overview and HOPE introduction
  • HOPE Section A (Administrative Information)
  • HOPE Sections F (Preferences) and I (Active Diagnoses)
  • HOPE Section J. (Health Conditions)
  • HOPE Sections M (Skin Conditions), N (Medications) and Z (Record Admin)
CMS suggests that providers complete these videos before attending a HOPE tool coding workshop it plans to host in August. Registration for the event is expected to be sent via CMS’ listserv.
