After struggling in recent months, hiring in home health care services climbed in July, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Comprising various types of home-based health care roles, the broad industry sector added an estimated 14,400 jobs in July. It was the second-largest increase among all health care settings, just behind hospitals with 16,000 new jobs.

In total, there are more than 1.81 million jobs in home health care services. That’s up from nearly 1.76 million a year ago, according to the BLS.

It’s unclear how leadership changes at the BLS will impact future monthly jobs reports. President Donald Trump fired Commissioner Erika McEntarfer on Friday after the monthly jobs report reflected downward revisions for the past two months. Revisions up and down are not uncommon as new data becomes available.
