Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) has introduced a bill intended to relieve physicians and home health agencies of CMS’s current face-to-face regulations. As introduced June 23 with bipartisan sponsorship, the bill, among other things, would require CMS to develop — in consultation with stakeholders — a standardized form to collect evidence that a beneficiary is eligible for home health services.

CMS is seeking to develop a new medication reconciliation measure to be used in all post-acute care settings, including home health, and is looking for home health and quality improvement experts to provide advice on the measure’s creation. A federal judge in Nashville has approved a $3 million settlement in a lawsuit against Guardian Home Care & Hospice, a division of Dallas-based AccentCare. The lawsuit was brought by nurses who worked at the agency and claimed they were not paid for overtime.
