The Joint Commission accreditation body will require, as of July 1, that home health agencies and hospices provide documentation on deemed status surveys of Hospice Quality Reporting Program (HQRP)/Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) reports for the past quarter for an initial survey

On July 16, CMS released its first star ratings for home health agencies on Home Health Compare. Below is a list of the number of agencies that fell into each of the rating categories, with a rating of 5 being the best. The data was provided by Kaiser Health News.

CMS has posted for the first time results from its two new, claims-based rehospitalization measures. These measures track hospital readmissions and emergency department use without hospital admission over a 30-day, rather than a 60-day period, as has been reported on Home Health Compare.

Families of hospice patients scored hospices the lowest in the measure that asks whether they were provided help with feelings of anxiety or sadness, according to results from a dry run of Hospice CAHPS Survey data submitted by Strategic Healthcare Programs in Santa Barbara, Calif.
