Home health care services added 15,200 jobs in December, finishing 2024 strong as the sector was at the top of hiring among all health care settings.
 
By comparison, the new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) showed hospitals adding 11,500 jobs, nursing facilities adding 14,000 jobs and physician offices adding 10,400 jobs. Dentists' offices, outpatient care centers and other ambulatory health care services all reported job losses in December.
 
Overall, the BLS estimates home health care services include more than 1.85 million jobs, adding more than 170,000 jobs over the past year.
