A California home health agency will pay $377,000 and be excluded from participating in federal health care programs for 20 years according to an agreement announced Jan. 8, 2024.

Independence Home Healthcare and Jose Vincente Perez entered into the settlement agreement with the Office of Inspector General to resolve allegations that they employed an office manager who was excluded from participating in federal health care programs.

OIG further alleged that the agency and Perez paid remuneration to individuals in the form of checks in violation of the Anti-Kickback Statute.
